MP Caleb Amisi Spreads Christmas Cheer to Inmates in Kitale Prisons with Heartwarming Donation

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi visited the Prison Annex and Kitale Women’s Prison, spreading holiday cheer to inmates and demonstrating his commitment to supporting the less fortunate during the festive season.

Amisi’s gesture brought joy to the incarcerated individuals who are spending the holidays far from their families, with a donation of essential foodstuffs.

The donation was part of his broader initiative to ensure that even those in correctional facilities are not overlooked during significant events like Christmas.

“It is my hope that this donation will bring some comfort and remind you all that you are not alone, especially during this holiday season,” he told the inmates.

Many inmates expressed their deep gratitude for the donation, with some sharing how the support eased the emotional toll of being separated from loved ones during such a meaningful time of the year.

“This is a rare and kind act that brings comfort to our inmates, especially those far from their families during the holidays,” one of the inmates stated.

In addition to his Christmas donation, Amisi announced plans to table a motion in Parliament aimed at compelling the government to offer employment opportunities to inmates who have acquired skills while in custody.

He expressed concern over the large number of youths incarcerated for minor offenses and urged the government to consider pardoning those convicted of petty crimes, allowing them a chance to reintegrate into society and contribute to the nation’s development.

“As a country, we must look beyond incarceration and focus on rehabilitation. Many of these youths, once released, have skills that could help build our economy. It’s time to offer them a chance to work and contribute to society,” he said.
