Cs Barasa Calls for Political Unity to Accelerate Development in Western Region

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, Dr. Deborah Barasa, has advocated for political unity among leaders from the Western region as a platform for economic development as opposed to retrogressive politics.

Dr. Barasa noted that the region stands a better chance to enjoy development if political leaders unite and back the re-election of President William Ruto, saying he has initiated several development projects in the region.

“Let us unite for the sake of development, and let us fully support the government in its endeavors. Political rivalry should never hinder the progress of our people,” she said while speaking at Shangalamwe Village in Trans Nzoia County.

The Cabinet Secretary, who spoke while distributing foodstuffs and bedding to widows in the village, said the county has been earmarked to benefit from a series of developmental projects, including the facelift of the Kitale County Hospital.

“The President met a delegation from this county where critical developmental projects were discussed and agreed upon to be rolled out. Among those given first priority was the facelifting of the Kitale County Hospital,” she said.

She rallied residents to embrace the fruit trees environmental conservation programme, which she said does not only strengthen food security but also creates opportunities for export.

The technical advisor to the Cabinet Secretary, Metrine Too, commended the national government for coming up with several socio-economic stimulus programmes targeting disadvantaged groups such as the youth and women.

“I urge you to support the government in its bid to steer economic transformation through these initiatives. The President deserves another term in office for these noble initiatives that are transforming the country,” she said.
