More than 100 exhibitors are expected at the 2026 Kitale Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show, which will showcase climate-smart farming technologies, irrigation solutions, improved seeds and machinery for small-scale farmers.
The four-day agricultural exhibition will run from October 7 to 10, 2026, bringing together farmers, students, traders, government officials and other agricultural stakeholders from the North Rift, Western and West Pokot regions.
This year’s theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture,” will focus on helping farmers adapt to unpredictable weather patterns and adopt technologies that can improve productivity and reduce climate-related losses.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ breakfast briefing in Kitale, Kitale ASK Show officials said exhibitors will demonstrate practical solutions covering crop production, livestock, irrigation, post-harvest management, seeds, vegetables and fruits.
Fredrick Kemboi, who oversees marketing activities for the show, said the number of exhibitors is expected to exceed 100, with several companies already preparing to display their products and technologies.
One of the key innovations expected at the exhibition is a small combine harvester designed for small-scale maize farmers.
“Come and see what is ready to be demonstrated,” Kemboi said, urging farmers across the North Rift, Western and West Pokot regions to attend the event.
The exhibition will give farmers an opportunity to see agricultural machinery and technologies that could help reduce production costs, improve efficiency and address labour challenges.
Kitale ASK Show Branch Manager Emily Awor said the event will help farmers understand how to adjust their farming practices in response to changing climatic conditions.
“We will be showcasing innovative displays and giving farmers an opportunity to learn how to farm according to the changing weather conditions,” Awor said.
Among the technologies expected to feature prominently are drip irrigation systems, which can help farmers maintain crop production during periods of inadequate rainfall.
The show will also highlight improved seeds, crop diversification and other technologies aimed at strengthening farmers’ resilience to climate shocks.
Kitale ASK Chairman Joseph Kirior urged farmers to use the exhibition to learn more about seed selection, crop production, irrigation and post-harvest management.
“With changing rainfall patterns affecting agricultural production, we urge farmers to consider irrigation and diversify their crops,” Kirior said.
Agricultural stakeholders are increasingly encouraging farmers to reduce their reliance on a single crop as unpredictable weather creates greater production risks.
ASK Bungoma Chairman Moses Makoha urged farmers to reduce their heavy dependence on maize and consider alternative crops such as sorghum, cassava and millet.
He said diversification could help farmers withstand climate shocks while improving food security.
“When there are problems with one crop, we can turn to short-season crops that can withstand the prevailing weather conditions,” Makoha said.
Organisers will also use the Kitale ASK Show to promote better post-harvest handling, which they say remains a major source of losses for farmers.
Farmers will have an opportunity to learn about technologies and practices for handling, storing and managing agricultural produce after harvesting.
The focus on post-harvest management is expected to complement the exhibition’s wider emphasis on improving farm productivity and reducing losses across the agricultural value chain.
Organisers have also assured exhibitors and visitors of adequate security throughout the four-day event.
