Farouk, Siyoi Push for Easier ID Access and Voter Registration in Cherang’any Ahead of 2027

President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet has called on chiefs in Cherang’any to ease restrictions during the vetting of national identity card applicants and help more youths obtain identification documents.

Speaking at an empowerment forum at Kiptoi Grounds in Cherang’any, Kibet urged chiefs to assist young people facing difficulties securing IDs without subjecting them to unnecessary questions about their parents or family backgrounds.

Kibet said eligible youths born in Kenya should be assisted to obtain identification documents regardless of whether they have parents or guardians.

“Please, when they come to you, issue them identification documents without asking questions such as whether someone has a mother or father. That is in God’s hands,” Kibet said.

He said the lack of national identification cards was preventing some young people from accessing government services, employment opportunities and other economic programmes.

Kibet also urged chiefs to assist young parents who have remained in Kenya but do not have identification documents, saying eligible applicants should be helped to obtain IDs free of charge.

“If some of these people have children but do not have identification documents and have remained in Kenya, give them identification documents for free,” he said.

The President’s aide also turned his attention to the political opposition, accusing its leaders of relying on political slogans instead of offering practical solutions to the challenges facing Kenyans.

His remarks came at a time political leaders in Trans Nzoia are stepping up grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Trans Nzoia Woman Representative Lilian Siyoi, who attended the forum, used the event to urge residents to register as voters ahead of the elections.

Siyoi repeatedly asked residents attending the empowerment forum whether they had registered as voters, linking voter registration to the political contest expected in 2027.

“For us to re-elect President William Ruto for a second term in office, we need to be registered as voters,” Siyoi said.

The Woman Representative also highlighted national government programmes in Trans Nzoia, pointing to road infrastructure, affordable housing and health reforms implemented through the Social Health Authority (SHA).

She urged residents to participate actively in voter registration and remain engaged in political processes ahead of the 2027 polls.

The latest mobilisation in Cherang’any highlights the growing focus by Kenya Kwanza-aligned leaders on youth empowerment, access to government services, voter registration and development projects as they build grassroots support ahead of the 2027 General Election.
