Bidii Ward MCA aspirant Ibrahim GG Njenga has alleged that he was attacked by a group of armed men after attending an Islamic community harambee on Saturday.
Njenga claimed the men, whom he said were armed with knives and swords, confronted him as he left the event, pelted his vehicle with stones and attempted to attack him.
“They came with knives and swords. They tried to kill us and pelted the vehicle with stones. Were it not for God, we could have been killed,” Njenga said.
Njenga further alleged that the attack was linked to his political rivalry with the sitting MCA.
He said he reported the incident at Kitale Police Station and called on police to investigate and take action against anyone found responsible. No arrests had been reported by the time of publication.
Njenga also urged political leaders to refrain from involving young people in political violence.
“Don’t use our youth wrongly to attack opponents,” he said.
He called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to intervene, saying political intolerance could undermine peaceful political competition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“If this country goes like this, it will be bad,” Njenga said.
Bishop Peter Ngoya condemned the alleged attack and urged political actors in Bidii Ward to resolve their differences through lawful and peaceful means.
“Bidii has never been a centre of chaos. We don’t want the politics of goonism. We want politics of ideologies,” Ngoya said.
The allegations come amid increased political activity in the ward ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Police investigations are expected to establish what happened and whether anyone will be held accountable.
