Kaplamai Ward MCA aspirant Felix Sialo has urged residents of Botwa village to embrace unity, honesty and organised group structures to increase their chances of benefiting from government and community development programmes.
Speaking during the Botwa Upendo CBO thanksgiving meeting held at Mlimani area in Botwa village, Sialo said organised groups are better placed to access empowerment opportunities, water projects and other forms of development support.
He encouraged residents to register and work through structured community groups, saying this would make it easier for them to tap into socio-economic support initiatives from both government and non-government institutions.
“You need to be organised in groups in order to benefit from socio-economic support initiatives from various institutions,” said Sialo.
Sialo also emphasised the importance of prudent financial management in community-based organisations, noting that accountability, honesty and proper leadership are essential for groups seeking funding and long-term development support.
According to the MCA hopeful, communities that manage their resources well are more likely to attract support for empowerment programmes and local development projects.
The Director of Communications at the County Government of Trans Nzoia also highlighted Governor George Natembeya’s commitment to resolving land title issues affecting residents in the area.
Sialo challenged landowners with pending succession cases to move with speed and resolve them to pave the way for the land titling programme.
“I challenge every landowner with pending succession cases to resolve them to pave the way for land titling,” he said.
Land ownership and documentation remain key issues in many parts of Trans Nzoia County, with local leaders increasingly calling for faster processing of title deeds to unlock development and investment.
Sialo also acknowledged challenges affecting the last-mile connection of the Botwa water project being implemented under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) programme.
Water access remains one of the key concerns for residents, with local leaders and community groups pushing for faster completion of projects aimed at improving access to clean and reliable water.
Botwa Upendo CBO chairman Stephen Simiyu said meaningful development can only be realised if residents remain united and focused on common goals instead of division.
He urged members of the community to work together, manage resources responsibly and maintain honesty in their dealings in order to attract more support and improve livelihoods.
“Unity is key if our people are to benefit from development programmes. We must organise ourselves in groups, manage our resources prudently and remain honest in our dealings so that Botwa can move forward,” said Simiyu.
