MP Amisi: Opposition Must Front a Youthful Candidate to Defeat William Ruto in 2027

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has declared that only a youthful presidential candidate with the stature of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has the energy, appeal, and political stamina required to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Rafiki–Sibunja Bridge in Saboti Constituency, Amisi argued that the opposition should rally behind a youthful presidential candidate capable of sustaining an aggressive nationwide campaign against the incumbent.

The legislator said Kenya’s next presidential contest would be won through relentless grassroots mobilisation, insisting that Sifuna possesses the charisma and endurance needed to connect with millions of young voters.

“We need a versatile candidate like Sifuna, who has the energy to run a serious national campaign and help us achieve the one-term agenda against President William Ruto. We need someone who can match—and even outpace—the President on the campaign trail,” Amisi said.

Amisi maintained that Kenya’s youthful population will play a decisive role in determining the country’s next president, making it imperative for the opposition to field a candidate who resonates with younger voters.

He argued that while several experienced opposition leaders remain influential, the physical demands of a modern presidential campaign require a candidate capable of maintaining a high-frequency campaign schedule across all regions of the country.

According to the MP, Sifuna’s communication skills, political consistency, and youthful image place him in a stronger position to inspire voters seeking leadership change.

The Saboti lawmaker also reiterated that his political decisions are guided by principle rather than personal interests, saying he remains committed to defending ordinary Kenyans regardless of the political consequences.

“I have stood with the common Kenyan for a long time, and I support leaders who have consistently defended the interests of Kenyans. My conscience cannot allow me to be bought,” he said.

Amisi further defended his decision to stand with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, saying he believed the governor had been targeted through what he termed politically motivated accusations.

“That is why I stood with Governor George Natembeya when he was arrested over what I believe were fictitious charges. I will continue standing with leaders who fight for the rights of the people,” Amisi added.
