Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau has reaffirmed his determination to contest the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, rejecting calls by Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula to defect to the party and challenge former Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Susan Nakhumicha in Ford Kenya’s nominations.
The legislator said he remains committed to UDA and urged Wetang’ula, a principal in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, to guarantee a transparent and fair process for selecting the coalition’s gubernatorial flag bearer ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“We are heading into a real political battle, and all I ask of you, Mr. Speaker, as one of the principals in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, is to accord everyone who has declared interest in the Trans Nzoia governorship a level playing field,” Bisau said.
His remarks come days after Wetang’ula dismissed accusations that he was favouring Dr. Susan Nakhumicha, insisting she was simply the only aspirant who had publicly declared interest in seeking the Trans Nzoia governorship on a Ford Kenya ticket.
“I have not favoured Dr. Nakhumicha. She is simply the only person who has declared interest in vying for the Trans Nzoia governorship on a Ford Kenya ticket. I invite you to join the party and face her in the nominations. I will support whoever emerges victorious,” Wetang’ula said.
The Speaker was responding to criticism from Bisau and former Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa, who accused him of giving Nakhumicha an unfair political advantage through his public endorsement.
Wetang’ula made the remarks in Kitale during a thanksgiving Mass for Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi, who recently returned home after reaching a significant milestone in his recovery journey.
Meanwhile, Endebess MP Dr. Robert Pukose said the Kenya Kwanza Alliance is focused on presenting a formidable gubernatorial candidate capable of unseating incumbent Governor George Natembeya in the 2027 General Election.
The latest exchange highlights growing competition within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance as UDA and Ford Kenya leaders position themselves ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested race for the Trans Nzoia governorship.Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau Reaffirms Bid for Trans Nzoia Governor on UDA Ticket, Rejects Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya Call
