Murei Unveils Development Milestones as He Champions Youth Empowerment in Sitatunga

Sitatunga Ward MCA Simon Murei has urged leaders to focus on solving residents’ problems instead of engaging in political rhetoric, saying leadership must deliver measurable results.

Speaking at a Youth Empowerment Forum at AIC Sinendet, Murei also condemned goonism, describing it as a threat to peace, development and youth empowerment.

“We want leaders with solutions to the challenges our people face. Leadership is about service and results. Goonism is not right,” he said.

Murei said he has endeavoured to deliver on his pre-election campaign promises without favouring any resident, regardless of ethnicity.

“During my campaigns, I promised to serve God and my people. I listened to residents, identified their priorities and implemented projects that address their needs,” he said.

The MCA cited road rehabilitation, expansion of water connections and business incubation programmes among the projects completed under his leadership.

He distributed incubators, egg trolleys and barber equipment, sponsored youths to driving school, and implemented the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme to help skilled residents gain nationally recognised certification and improve their employment prospects.

“Every project we have implemented responds to a need identified by residents. Our priority is to equip young people with practical skills, create employment opportunities and support enterprise so families can improve their incomes,” Murei said.

He said the initiatives are improving livelihoods by expanding access to essential services, promoting self-employment and preparing young people for the job market.

The forum brought together youths from across Sitatunga Ward to discuss entrepreneurship, skills development and employment opportunities as part of efforts to strengthen youth economic empowerment in the ward.
