St Joseph’s Boys National School Chief Principal Cosmas Nabungolo has pledged to pay secondary school fees for one of the children of his late close friend, Edward Munabi.
Nabungolo made the pledge during Munabi’s funeral at Kapretwa in SabotiConstituency, saying he would support the child until completing secondary school.
“I will ask the head teacher of St. Joseph’s Kitale to identify one child whose secondary school fees I will pay until he or she completes high school,” Nabungolo said.
He said the decision was a way of honouring Munabi, whom he described as a close friend he had known since their younger years.
“We grew up here, we were educated here, and we have lost a very important person,” he said.
Nabungolo said Munabi had influenced those around him by teaching them the importance of respect, building relationships and forgiveness.
“He taught us to have respect. He taught us the power of networking, and he also taught us to forgive,” he said.
He appealed to Munabi’s friends and relatives to forgive him for any wrongs he may have committed during his lifetime.
He said Munabi’s children still needed support following their father’s death and pledged to ensure one of them receives uninterrupted secondary education.
The pledge came as relatives, friends and members of the community gathered to mourn Munabi and celebrate his life.
