Saboti MP Caleb Amisi Urges Parents and Leaders to Mentor Children, Reject Tribal Politics

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to take a more active role in mentoring children, warning that the erosion of social values poses a growing threat to society.

Amisi emphasized that raising responsible and disciplined children is a collective responsibility that extends beyond schools into homes and communities.

He expressed concern over the increasing influence of social media platforms on young people, attributing it partly to a decline in parental guidance.

“The issue is not just about children. It is the responsibility of parents and those in charge of schools. This is about our social fabric as a society,” Amisi spoke while commissioning classrooms renovated by the National Government Constituencies Development Fund.

He noted that many parents are overly occupied with economic activities and career pursuits, leaving children vulnerable to negative influences during a crucial stage of development.

“Parents are busy pursuing their daily activities and have left children to be influenced by TikTok and other social media platforms. Parents must take full responsibility in mentoring and directing their children along the right path,” he stated.

Amisi further urged leaders at all levels to serve as positive role models, noting that children often mirror the behavior and values demonstrated by adults in positions of authority.

“Leaders must be role models. We cannot expect our children to uphold good values if the people they look up to fail to demonstrate them,” he said.

The MP reaffirmed his commitment to improving learning infrastructure across schools in the constituency, noting that quality facilities are critical to academic performance and a conducive learning environment.

He said his office would continue supporting initiatives aimed at expanding and upgrading school infrastructure to meet growing learner needs.

The legislator also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve road networks within Saboti Constituency, saying better infrastructure is essential for economic growth and service delivery.

He observed that improved roads would enhance connectivity between communities, facilitate trade, and improve access to schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential services.

Turning to politics, Amisi accused some of his rivals of resorting to tribal rhetoric instead of focusing on development and service delivery.

“Kenyans deserve issue-based politics. Tribal politics only serves the interests of a few individuals while dividing communities that should be working together for development,” he said.

The MP urged residents to reject leaders who thrive on ethnic animosity and instead support leaders committed to development, accountability, inclusivity, and national cohesion.
