St. Francis Kolongolo Girls Soars to KCSE 2025 Victory in Kwanza

St. Francis Kolongolo Girls High School emerged as the best-performing school in Kwanza Sub-County in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, posting a commendable academic improvement hailed as a positive deviation from previous years.

The county school, which presented 159 girls for the national examination, attained a mean score of 7.100 (C+), up from 6.9 in the previous year, placing the institution at the top of the sub-county rankings.

Out of the 159 candidates, 112 girls attained C+ and above, qualifying for direct university admission, representing a transition rate of 70.4 percent.

The performance distribution included 2 B+ grades, 15 B, 34 B-, and 61 C+, reflecting strong consistency across the cohort.

The school’s principal Mrs. Hellen Wanyonyi expressed deep gratitude, attributing the outstanding success to both divine favor and the collective effort of various stakeholders from multiple sectors within and beyond the school.

“We thank God for these great results. This is a positive deviation for us. Although our target was 7.5, we are encouraged by the progress and are confident of doing even better,” Mrs. Sirengo addressed the school.

Mrs. Sirengo noted that the improvement was the result of hard work, teamwork, and dedication from both students and staff, noting that early syllabus coverage, strict discipline, continuous revision programs, and active engagement of parents were key pillars behind the success.

“The school benefited from guidance by education officers from the Ministry of Education and assistance from the NG CDF, which facilitated the construction of eight new classrooms, significantly improving the learning environment,” she said.

In addition, Mrs. Sirengo acknowledged the role of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale through the Kolongolo Parish, which sponsors the institution, noting that spiritual guidance remained central to the school’s holistic development journey.

“This year, our target is a mean score of 8.0. We are topping the sub-county, and we are determined to perform even better. Our focus remains on pushing boundaries and ensuring that every student reaches their full potential,” she affirmed.
