Friends Mixed Senior School Kimobo emerged as one of the top-performing institutions at the Mt. Elgon Sub-County games after delivering a series of impressive results across volleyball and other sporting disciplines.
The school’s strong showing secured its qualification for the Bungoma County games, where it will represent the sub-county alongside other qualifying schools.
The girls’ volleyball team produced one of the most exciting matches of the tournament, staging a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Kibuk Girls in the final. The encounter was tightly contested, with set scores of 25–14, 21–25, 23–25, 25–23, and 15–13, reflecting Kimobo’s resilience as they recovered from a deficit to clinch the championship.
The boys’ volleyball team also impressed, sealing the sub-county title with a dominant 3–0 win over Kaptama. They controlled the match from start to finish, recording set wins of 25–9, 25–23, and 25–15 in a performance that highlighted their consistency, teamwork, and tactical strength.
Kimobo’s success extended beyond volleyball, with the boys recording a 10–05 victory over Kapso 05 in another final. The girls’ team also delivered commanding performances, including a 40–00 win over Kibuk and a 19–10 victory against Kongit, further underlining the school’s dominance in the competition.
Following these results, Friends Mixed Senior School Kimobo has earned a place at the Bungoma County games, where it will compete in Pool B alongside Bukembe, Rocho, and Milo. The county-level draw places the school in a competitive group as it prepares to face some of the region’s strongest teams.
School principal Moses Cheluch expressed pride in the team’s performance and confidence in their ability to compete at a higher level. He noted that the success at the sub-county stage reflected discipline, teamwork, and dedication among the students, adding that the school remains fully committed to supporting the teams as they prepare for the county games.
“We are very proud of our students for their excellent performance at the sub-county level. This success reflects discipline, teamwork, and commitment in training. As a school, we are fully committed to supporting our teams,” said Mr. Cheluch.
Pool allocations for the Bungoma County games are as follows: Pool A includes Teremi School, Mukuleswa, Bokoli, and Kibabii; Pool B features Bukembe, Friends Mixed Senior School Kimobo, Rocho, and Milo; Pool C comprises Kabula Boys, Maliki Boys, Kimaeti Boys, and Marobo Secondary School; while Pool D consists of Terem School, Chesamisi Boys, St. Juliana Narati, and Namwela Boys.
