The Kitale National Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show has opened in Trans Nzoia, bringing together farmers, businesses, schools and agricultural exhibitors to showcase products, innovations and investment opportunities.
The annual event has attracted exhibitors from across Kenya, with agriculture taking centre stage as farmers and agribusinesses display crops, technologies and services aimed at improving production and expanding markets.
Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Trans Nzoia Chairman Titus Kilongi said the show provides a vital platform for the county’s agricultural and business sectors to market their products and connect with potential customers and partners.
“Trans Nzoia is the breadbasket of the country. We are showcasing what we are doing as an agricultural-based economy,” Kilongi said.
Farmers at the Kitale National ASK Show are exhibiting crops including wheat and coffee, while major agricultural companies such as Kenya Seed, Western Seed and Kitalin are showcasing their products and activities.
Kilongi said nearly 100 exhibitors had travelled to Trans Nzoia for the event, creating opportunities for businesses both within and beyond the showground.
He said the influx of visitors was also benefiting hotels, restaurants and other businesses in Kitale, with some hotels reportedly recording full bookings.
“The importance of this show is not just to the agriculturists but also spreads across to the business community,” he said.
The Trans Nzoia County Government is also showcasing its development programmes and public services, with Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital highlighting healthcare services available to residents.
Schools, particularly those offering agriculture-related programmes, are exhibiting students’ practical skills and projects, giving visitors an opportunity to see how learners are applying classroom knowledge.
Kilongi said the local business community had partnered with the ASK Show Committee to support Trans Nzoia’s participation, contributing to the county’s success in securing several trophies.
Kilongi urged residents who had not visited the show to attend and explore the agricultural, business and educational exhibitions.
“I am appealing to you to come so that you can tap deeper into what is being done here for the purposes of taking your undertakings to the next level,” he said.
