Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat has affirmed that the ongoing multi-agency crackdown on criminal gangs in Trans Nzoia County will continue without interruption, despite criticism and resistance from a section of politicians.
Speaking at Kitale Police Station, Lagat said the coordinated security operation, which has led to multiple arrests and prosecutions in recent weeks, will persist until criminal networks in the region are completely dismantled.
“The crackdown will not stop. Our focus is to ensure the people of Trans Nzoia enjoy peace and stability,” said Lagat in an interview with journalists.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police officiated the pass-out ceremony of the first ADC Cohort of 59 National Police Reservists (NPR) today at the ADC AI Training Centre.
Lagat noted that the intensified security operations have already recorded significant progress, with several suspects apprehended and successfully prosecuted.
He added that security agencies remain committed to sustaining pressure on criminal elements until lasting peace is achieved.
The multi-agency approach brings together police units and other security actors working collaboratively to restore law and order in the county.
The Deputy Inspector General also urged residents to work closely with law enforcement agencies through community policing initiatives, emphasizing the importance of timely information sharing in preventing and solving crime.
He called on members of the public to support ongoing operations by reporting suspicious activity to authorities.
At the same time, Lagat assured the public that all security operations are being conducted strictly within the law, noting that due process is being followed in all arrests and investigations.
“We operate strictly within the confines of the law. If anyone feels aggrieved, there are proper mechanisms to address their concerns,” he said.
Security officials in the county expressed confidence that the continued deployment of coordinated law enforcement efforts, including the newly accredited NPR officers, will enhance security presence across Trans Nzoia County and deter criminal activity, particularly around key economic and agricultural zones.
