Cherang’any Member of Parliament Patrick Simiyu has pledged to revitalize the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) in Trans Nzoia County following his appointment as the party’s new county chairman.
Speaking after assuming office at a meeting held at the party’s regional headquarters in Kitale, Mr. Simiyu said he would use his new position to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and entrench democratic values to boost its popularity ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“I want to assure our members that I will work actively towards growing the party and making it more popular across the county,” he told delegates.
The legislator emphasized the need for transparent and credible party nominations, noting that DAP-K would conduct a rigorous nomination exercise to ensure only strong and popular candidates secure the party’s ticket.
“The will of the people regarding party nominations will prevail to ensure we field stronger candidates in the coming General Election,” said Mr. Simiyu.
He added that strengthening internal democracy would be key to positioning the party as a formidable political force in the region.
DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, who also addressed the meeting, said the party is keen on expanding its influence in Trans Nzoia and the larger Western region.
“We have set our sights on the growth of the party ahead of the General Election. We welcome all members on board to join us as we build a stronger movement,” said Mr. Wamalwa.
The leaders expressed optimism that with renewed focus and unity, DAP-K will increase its chances of clinching more elective seats in 2027.
