Sirende MCA Aspirant Walks the Talk with Solutions to Residents’ Needs

An aspiring Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Sirende Ward in Trans Nzoia County has outlined his development agenda, focusing on education support and access to clean water.

David Nyongesa Murambi says his early engagements with community stakeholders are aimed at addressing key challenges facing residents, particularly in the education sector and water access.

“Education and access to clean water remain some of the most pressing needs in our communities. My focus is to work with stakeholders to create opportunities for our young people and improve basic services for residents,” Murambi said.

Among the initiatives he has been involved in is supporting plans to establish a campus of Egerton University in Waitaluk.

Murambi said the project, currently being pursued through a stakeholders’ committee, is expected to expand access to higher education for students from Sirende Ward and neighbouring areas once operational.

“Bringing a university campus closer to our people will reduce the burden on families and give more students a chance to pursue higher education without travelling far,” he said.

The aspirant has also spearheaded the donation of computer hardware to ACK Emmanuel Wehoya Senior School to help strengthen digital learning among students.

“We live in a digital era, and our students must not be left behind. Providing computers to schools will help learners acquire the technological skills they need for the future,” Murambi noted.

In addition, Murambi said he is negotiating with Christian Relief Fund to support the sinking of a borehole that would provide clean water to several institutions and communities in the area.

The proposed project is expected to benefit Kaptien Primary School, Wehoya Primary School, Wehoya Junior School, as well as residents of Maili Saba and neighbouring villages.

“Access to clean water will greatly improve learning conditions for pupils and also ease the burden on residents who currently walk long distances to fetch water,” he added.

Murambi further noted that he has been working with education stakeholders to secure scholarships for students joining Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, in addition to helping learners obtain admissions to secondary schools, colleges and vocational training centres.

“We must support our youth through scholarships and training opportunities so that they can gain practical skills and become self-reliant,” he said.

He said empowering young people through education and skills development will be a key pillar of his leadership agenda if elected to represent Sirende Ward in the Trans Nzoia County Assembly.

Murambi is among several aspirants positioning themselves ahead of the next general election, with local leaders increasingly engaging residents through development initiatives and community programs.
