Trans Nzoia ODM Leaders Condemn Attack on Senator Osotsi, Call for Justice

Leaders of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Trans Nzoia County have strongly condemned the recent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu, terming the incident unacceptable and a threat to political tolerance in the country.

ODM County Secretary John Simiyu said the attack on the senator, whom he described as a national leader, must be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

“We want to condemn the attack on Senator Osotsi in Kisumu. He is a national leader and such acts must not be tolerated. We as ODM officials will not agree to be divided along tribal lines,” said Simiyu.

He urged security agencies to move with speed and arrest all those involved, including suspects still at large, and ensure they reveal those who orchestrated the attack.

“We have seen only three suspects arrested. Arrest all those responsible and let them tell us who sent them. No one should intimidate wananchi. We are not cowards,” he added.

ODM Endebess Constituency Chairman Moses Wanjala Ainea Masinde also condemned the incident, noting that political differences should not escalate into violence.

“ While we may have ideological differences, violence should never be an option. I call upon the party leadership, including the chairman and party leader, to spearhead efforts to unite members,” he said.

ODM Trans Nzoia Women Leader Mirriam Kubai emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence among communities, noting that Luhya and Luo communities have lived together harmoniously for years.

“We have been living together without fighting. There is no reason for communities to turn against each other because of politics,” she said.

On his part, ODM Youth Leader Budenziana Nyongesa termed the attack as unfortunate and contrary to the party’s values.

“This is very bad. This is not the kind of politics associated with the late Raila Odinga. Let the law take its course and those responsible be held accountable,” he said.

The leaders called for calm among supporters and urged authorities to ensure justice is served while safeguarding political unity across the country.
