UDA Leaders in Trans Nzoia Defend President William Ruto Against Attacks

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders in Trans Nzoia County have defended president William Ruto against claims that he has acted unpresidential in responding to criticism from opposition leaders.

Speaking at a UDA consultative forum in Motosiet, the leaders dismissed the allegations, arguing that the President’s response was measured and did not target any specific individual despite ongoing attacks.

County woman representative Lilian Siyoi stated that the Head of State has for a long time endured personal attacks, including those touching on his private life, and therefore has a right to respond.

“The President has been insulted for long by his opponents, including attacks on his private life. So how is it a crime when he defends himself?” she said.

Former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa emphasized the importance of respecting the presidency, describing it as a unifying symbol for the country.

“The President is a symbol of national unity. We must respect the office he holds,” said Wamalwa, adding that leadership is divinely ordained.

Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau echoed similar sentiments, calling for respect for the presidency regardless of political differences.

“The office of the President is highly respected and must be accorded dignity. We should uphold that respect even as we engage in political discourse,” said Bisau.

Area Senator Allan Chesang has vowed to continue executing his oversight role over the county government, emphasizing that it falls squarely within his constitutional mandate.

“I will not relent in carrying out my duty as Senator to ensure accountability, transparency, and proper use of public resources for the benefit of our people,” said Mr. Chesang.
