Wamalwa Vows to Prioritize Residents’ Needs in Trans Nzoia Gubernatorial Race

Trans Nzoia gubernatorial aspirant Dr. Chris Wamalwa has vowed to prioritize the interests of residents in the cosmopolitan region, aiming to fulfill their needs and aspirations rather than imposing his own wishes on them.

Dr. Wamalwa, who has been holding a series of consultative meetings with representatives from various sectors and communities in the region, emphasized that the electorate has the right to contribute their input on how they wish to be governed.

“I am engaging with residents to gather their opinions on what needs to be done and how, because they are the ones who truly feel the impact of the challenges they face,” he said after a consultative meeting in Kitale.

The former Kiminini Member of Parliament stated that he is not running for the seat as part of anyone’s project, but as a servant who has answered the call of residents seeking a leader capable of making the county great.

“For instance, I am currently in Ford Kenya, but I will wait for the electorate to tell me which political vehicle they wish me to use in the 2027 general elections—be it Ford Kenya, DAP Kenya, or running as an independent candidate,” he said.

Among the key promises he made is to revitalize the health sector in the region, citing numerous complaints from residents who are dissatisfied with the sector and the current regime’s decision to close Kitale County Hospital.

“If I am elected Governor, my first priority will be to revive Kitale County Hospital, which is crucial for providing level-four healthcare services, while ensuring that Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital sticks to its mandate,” he promised.

He also pledged to adopt an inclusive governance approach, ensuring that all communities in the cosmopolitan county are represented in his administration, in line with the spirit of inclusivity.
