Nakhumicha Outlines Her Agenda for Trans Nzoia as She Shares Christmas Gifts with Residents

Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat Susan Nakhumicha who is eyeing the Trans Nzoia County governorship in the upcoming 2027 elections has outlined her vision.

Nakhumicha, a former Health Cabinet Secretary, stated that she intends to revitalize healthcare in the region, promising to restore services at Kitale County Hospital, which was shut down after being declared condemned.

“Public healthcare services are in a sorry state. If elected, I will ensure that residents have access to quality healthcare services, all the way down to the grassroots level,” she stated while speaking during a Christmas charity event at her Chebarus homestead in Trans Nzoia East Sub-County.

Highlighting her plans to improve the county’s agricultural sector, Nakhumicha emphasized the need to equip farmers with essential inputs through a subsidy plan to guarantee higher output and strengthen the county’s position in the national food basket.

“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. We must ensure our farmers have access to both seeds and fertilizers for better produce,” she said, emphasizing the importance of supporting the agricultural community.

Nakhumicha also vowed to introduce school feeding programs for primary school children in Trans Nzoia, drawing inspiration from successful initiatives implemented in Nairobi, to ensure that students have access to nutritious meals and improve school attendance.

“Children in Trans Nzoia deserve to receive meals while at school. If elected, I will be committed to improving early childhood education and school infrastructure,” she noted.

Nakhumicha strongly advocated for greater representation of women in leadership, highlighting the success of female governors across Kenya as inspiring examples of what women can achieve in political leadership.

The event included the distribution of Christmas gifts to her neighbors and provided a platform for her to promote a message of unity, compassion, and shared progress, bringing the community together and encouraging collective responsibility.
