Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has fired a warning shot to aspirants eyeing his seat, telling those hoping he will run for the Trans Nzoia governorship in the 2027 general elections to shelve their ambitions until 2032, as he is firmly set on clinching a third term.
Mr. Amisi noted that some aspirants have been sponsored by the government to vie for his seat in the general election, hoping he will not defend it and that this would bring an end to his fierce criticism of President William Ruto’s regime.
“Many people have requested me to vie for the governorship position, but I will be defending my seat since I have realized there is a plan to auction this constituency to the wrong leadership, which would undermine the progress we have made in terms of development,” he said while distributing bursary allocations to beneficiaries at the Central Chief’s office.
He urged his supporters to remain politically resolute, stating that he was prepared to seek re-election with or without the ODM party, which he claimed had been held hostage by President Ruto following the political sidelining of party leader Raila Odinga.
The MP vowed to keep the government on its toes, saying he will not be mobilized by anyone, including his ODM party, to sing praises to President Ruto’s regime when it has failed to deliver on its mandate to Kenyans.
“I am the only Member of Parliament from this county who has chosen to stand on the side of the common Mwananchi. My colleagues are praising the government, yet no developments have been done in their constituencies, just like in mine,” he observed.
On constituency development, Amisi announced that the Saboti National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) would issue double bursary allocations in the next application cycle to expand access to education for needy students.
