Trans Nzoia Leaders Express Concern Over County Workers’ Salary Delays and Service Delivery

Trans Nzoia Leaders Raise Concerns Over County Workers’ Salary Delays and Service Delivery

Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang has called on the Trans Nzoia County Government to immediately settle outstanding salaries owed to county workers, who have now gone unpaid for two months.

Speaking at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) consultative forum in Sinyereri, Chesang condemned the ongoing salary delays and urged the county government to prioritize employees’ financial welfare as they continue serving the people of Trans Nzoia.

“It’s unfair that workers have not received their salaries, yet they are expected to provide critical services. The Governor should focus on resolving this issue instead of engaging in political games,” Senator Chesang declared, stressing the severe financial strain on local public servants.

Kiminini Member of Parliament (MP) Kakai Bisau also criticized Governor George Natembeya for allegedly failing to deliver on his reelection promises, accusing him of prioritizing personal political ambitions over the development of Trans Nzoia.

According to Bisau, the governor’s lack of action has left the county lagging in infrastructure and public service delivery.

“Trans Nzoia has been left behind in development due to a governor more interested in politicking than fulfilling his duties,” MP Bisau stated, calling for a shift in leadership to ensure the county’s growth and prosperity.

Endebess MP Dr. Robert Pukose urged residents of Trans Nzoia to align themselves with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), pointing to the party’s strong performance in recent by-elections.

Dr. Pukose encouraged voters to view UDA as a dominant force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“You have seen how UDA swept all four by-election seats held on Monday. Now is the time to join the winning party and prepare for the future,” Dr. Pukose said, highlighting the party’s growing influence in the region.

The UN-Habitat Permanent Representative for Kenya, Susan Nakhumicha, also weighed in on the state of healthcare in Trans Nzoia, describing it as dire under the current leadership.

Nakhumicha lamented that many residents are forced to seek medical care outside the county due to inadequate public health services within Trans Nzoia.

“It is a disgrace that our people are traveling to neighboring counties for basic healthcare or paying exorbitant fees at private hospitals because the public healthcare system has collapsed,” Nakhumicha said, calling for urgent reforms to address the county’s healthcare crisis.

Trans Nzoia Woman Representative Lilian Siyoi also joined the growing chorus of criticism against Governor Natembeya.

She challenged the governor to account for his record in office and to focus on the needs of the county rather than engaging in national-level political affairs.

“The Governor has lost focus on his primary responsibility as the leader of Trans Nzoia. Instead of working for the people, he is preoccupied with national politics,” Siyoi said, urging the governor to outline his achievements and deliver on his promises.

Former Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa cautioned Trans Nzoia residents against electing inexperienced leaders in the upcoming elections.

He stressed the importance of choosing proven and competent leaders who understand the county’s needs and have a track record of delivery.

“This seat requires someone who has been tested and proven. We need leadership that can deliver, not play games with the future of Trans Nzoia,” Dr. Wamalwa declared.
