Ruto-Allied Leaders Hold Consultative Forum in Saboti to Address Key Development Issues

Leaders allied to President William Ruto on Thursday convened at Machewaa Secondary School in Saboti Constituency for a consultative forum aimed at addressing key issues affecting education, infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and political unity in the region.

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Deborah Mulongo, highlighted development projects being implemented across the region.

“The government has identified several development projects in this region, among them roads and health facilities,” said Dr. Mulongo.

Trans Nzoia Woman Representative Lilian Siyoi, who hosted the forum, welcomed the government’s move to raise the PAYE tax-free band from Sh24,000 to Sh30,000.

“The tax relief, which also extends to lowering PAYE by five per cent for those earning between Sh30,000 and Sh50,000, is a big boost that will cushion workers,” said Siyoi.

Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat, Dr. Susan Nakhumicha, questioned why Bondeni Hospital, despite being completed, lacks water and adequate medical supplies, describing the situation as unacceptable.

Kenya Seed Company Director Bernard Wambwa revealed that the seed firm produced 44 million kilos of maize seed last year, up from 27 million kilos in the previous year, a development he said reflects improved productivity.

The Chairman of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) National Standards Council, Dr. Chris Wamalwa, criticised Governor George Natembeya, saying he has failed to deliver on his pre-election pledges.

Senator Allan Chesang urged residents to embrace government initiatives, particularly the last-mile connectivity programme aimed at improving fertiliser distribution.

Endebess MP Dr. Robert Pukose announced that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party will field candidates for all elective seats in the region, signalling early preparations for the next general election.

County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education, announcing that village elders will soon start earning stipends to strengthen grassroots administration.

He emphasised the policy of 100 per cent transition, insisting that no child should remain at home, and directed village administrators to submit records detailing learners who have not reported to school.
